The previous Church was a smaller building, being described as more like a barn than a Church. It accommodated 56 persons including 8 free seats. The chancel of the church was next to the tomb of William and Mary Stokes and the Nave door was next to the grave of John and Mary Peploe.
The last entries in the Churchwardens Book regarding the old church was, 'Thursday 1st June 1843 paid Thomas Bott 3s 4d for cleaning walks. Friday 2nd June paid Sarah Perrins 2s 0d for cleaning the church.' The first entry regarding the present building was, 'Monday 17th February 1845 fee to the Singers on the occasion of the laying of the first stone of the new church £1 0s 0d.'
The present Church was built by Henry Wood (architect), at a cost of £1100, and was consecrated on the 19th August 1846 by the Lord Bishop of Lichfield. The brass plaque inside of the church, states that the Church can accommodate 250 persons and the whole of that number are hereby declared to be free and in appropriated for ever.
A parsonage house was in existence on the site of the present school in the early part of the 19th century but was considered unfit for human habitation by the incumbent. In 1849 there was a Public House, Garden and Stable on the site of the School Huts.
