St. Mary's Church Development Update
Latest Information - November 2009
We are delighted to announce that recently we have received two grants, one of £30,500 and another of £36,500 from two environmental trusts. This means that we need less than ten thousand pounds to begin work on phase one of the redevelopment, which includes new floor, flexible seating, new kitchen and toilet and disabled access. We are hoping to start work in Spring 2010, and expect phase one to be complete by Autumn 2010.It is important to record that funding bodies will usually only consider requests after a considerable amount has been raised by the community - Rev Garry Thompson said "we have to thank so many people in the community, who have staged numerous and varied events, and all those who have supported these events so generously. The considerable amount of money raised has caused the trusts to look favourably on our applications, and we hope to have an improved centre for worship and a resource centre for the whole village within twelve months"
