Christ Church Stone

Welcome

Church
Whether you are new to the Stone area or have been living here for some time you are welcome to our church. The church is made up of adults and children who want to know more about the living God, who has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ and continues to speak to us through His Spirit-inspired word, the Holy Bible (this may be read at www.biblegateway.com). Our meetings help us to grow in our understanding of what the Bible tells us about God, and this is something that we encourage others to investigate especially through our Christianity Explored course (see details on www.christianityexplored.com). If you would like details of when the next course is starting then please contact the church office.

We have children's and youth activities running during the Sunday meetings (except for Family Services when everyone is together) and also during the week such as our Tuesday evening youth club. Adults may be further involved through small groups, a midweek service and a monthly prayer meeting.

Our community involvement includes links with the local schools: Christ Church First, Oulton First, Christ Church Middle and Alleyne's High.

We have links with the Church in India, The Philippines, Croatia, Botswana and Pakistan.

This website concerns Christ Church in Stone, but we are linked with the churches in Oulton and Moddershall (see separate website).

Sermon series in August

God's means of Grace: in the mornings at Christ Church and Oulton we will tackle a series on how God has provided us with various ways by which we are to grow as Christians. God makes Himself known principally by the Bible through which we hear the voice of God. But He has also given us other means, such as prayer, by which we can grow in the knowledge and grace of God. These are collectively called the means of grace and all are shaped by what the Bible teaches about them.

Christian encouragement: at Moddershall and in the evening services we will look at various sayings in the New Testament about the corporate life of the church. Various teachings have the exhortation one and another such as 'be patient with one another'. Here's a description of the ministry to be exercised by all who are Christian disciples.

A service of welcome and commissioning: Sun 31st August

We are looking forward to the arrival of Adam Rushton to be our Assistant Minster for youth. We are planning a short service of welcome and commissioning for Adam and his wife Helen Clare and daughter Eden. This will be at 4.30 p.m. on Sunday 31st August. We have kindly been offered the use of a marquee at Midfield Nurseries at Oulton Heath which has good parking. Please bring your own fold-up chair for the service and enjoy the tea that will follow.
Paul Kingman.

Church Weekend 'at home': 5th - 7th September 2008.

We have planned a weekend for our Benefice entitled Our Gospel Mission. This will be a fun weekend of teaching, fellowship and meals together from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th September. This will be a great opportunity to spend time as a church family as we learn about how to be better equipped for God's mission.

Brochures will circulate this month with more details including the small cost to cover expenses of the weekend. Our speaker will be Revd John Hamilton who is Rector of The Sherbornes with Pamber (three villages in Hampshire).

Paul Kingman.
